Before you ask; no this gin isn’t made by distilling pugs.
Husband and wife team Christine and Stephen Ditchfield use their three pugs as mascots for their London Dry Gin after being inspired to create their own at a tasting event in Warrington. In the 30 litre copper still at their home in Orford, the duo distil their Three Pugs Gin using eight different botanicals: cardamom, juniper, coriander, orris, angelica, basil, orange and elderflower. This particular gin adds Blackcurrant juice to create a sweet taste at first followed by spice and a peppery finish.
You’ll probably spot this gin behind our bar as the only bottle which doesn’t stand up straight (or if you’ve had one too many, it might look as though it’s the only bottle that does depending on your stature!), the slanted bottom gives it a tilted look – we love quirky bottles!
We’ll be serving this gin with Fever Tree Mediterranean Tonic and a slice or two of dehydrated orange.
